Finding Christmas

For the first time since we've been married, Hunter and I will not be spending Christmas with family. This year we will be celebrating as a couple, just the two of us. And quite frankly, I'm apprehensive. Not because I don't want to be with my sweetheart...I actually can't get enough of him. No, my apprehension is due to the fact that we won't be around any of the nieces and nephews.

There's something magical about being with children Christmas morning. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and their wonder and excitement fill my heart with joy. I always look forward to sharing their experience, and the few Christmases I've had without them have felt rather empty.
This year, I am determined to make my own Christmas magic. I have made it a point to actually put up the tree, and I'm even listening to Christmas music on purpose! My husband has been working on weekends, so I spend the time crafting and putting together holiday-themed projects.
I'm also focusing on the things I am grateful for, including my sweet husband. More than anything, I am grateful I don't have to be alone for the holiday. I love having my best friend home with me every night, and I am so happy he is no longer trucking. I did not like saying goodbye so often!
I'm actually very grateful for so many things. I could make a very huge list, but instead I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I really am thankful for this time of year. It used to be a difficult time for me, but now it reminds me how much I love my family, and how blessed I really am.
What are some of the things you do to bring the Christmas spirit into your holiday?

As many of you know, I have been part of the creative team at since 2009. I was thrilled when she asked me to be part of the team, and it has been a wonderful experience. However, at the end of the year the creative team is being disbanded to allow the individual designers more control over their own creative teams. I have mixed feelings about this...I have loved being part of the team, but I think I'm ready for a change.

I'm excited to announce that I am now a Digital Design Team Expert for Echo Park Paper! I have loved Echo Park Paper since they first debuted in 2010, and I was so happy when they joined Jessica Sprague's site. I am looking forward to continuing the relationship. Check out my interview here and their latest digital line, Love Story, here. And here is my layout using the Love Story collection:

Projects Galore

I spent Thanksgiving week with my family, and we had plenty of crafting planned. I was so excited to try out my new Silhouette Cameo. Silhouette has a limited edition advent calendar that I couldn't resist, so this was my first project. I used Echo Park's gorgeous Winter Wishes kit:
I was pretty happy with the end result, but more importantly my sister loved it. This was a gift for her family, and they were pretty excited about it.

The next project involved a bit more bling. Using the Silhouette, my niece helped me do the following:
I'll be honest, these projects ended up being a pain in the @#$%. Each rhinestone has to be individually placed right-side up into the template. This is a tedious, painstaking process...but I think it paid off in the end. I absolutely loved the final results! You'll notice the butterfly is missing a couple of rhinestones...I learned the hard way that the iron needs to be on the hottest setting. I was also lucky to have a sweet assistant, my niece Kazie. When I got tired of placing rhinestones she stepped in, and she did a wonderful job. Of course, the skirt and red jeans are hers so she had a vested interest in seeing the projects through to the bitter end. :)

Last but not least, inspired by this post I made a version for my sister's front door:
It's a bit hard to tell from the photos, but I used silver and teal vinyl. The silver vinyl was tricky to cut, because it tended to fold and crease when I attached it to the cutting mat. However, it was super easy to apply to the door, and looks awesome in person. I found the teal to be a completely opposite experience; it was a cinch to cut but did NOT want to adhere to the door. I finally won the argument, but not without a lot of suffering and mental anguish, haha. Again, I thought the end result was worth the hassle.

Needless to say, I am thrilled with the Cameo and excited for the possibilities. Projects are my favorite. :)

Hello World

And just like that, it's been over a year since my last post! I just wanted to pop in to show some of my recent scrapbook layouts. I want to thank my sisters for having such adorable, photogenic children. Hunter is also grateful, because without them all of my layouts would be about him! :)
