Not-So-Wonder Land

You know all those photos I posted of the gorgeous snow in Henrieville? Well, unfortunately it caused the roof of the fire station to collapse, and destroyed the two fire trucks. Here are a couple of photos, submitted by Sarah Sorenson to KSL News.
Yikes! I'm just so glad no one was injured. What a way for Henrieville to get its fifteen minutes of fame.

Winter Wonderland

Southern Utah got TONS of snow this week. Here in SLC (or at least, our part of SLC), we got nuthin'. My mama emailed us a few pictures of all their snow on Friday, and Hunter turned green. He really really wanted to play in that frosty goodness. So, at about 11:00 pm on Friday evening we headed south. Yeah, we didn't arrive until about 3:30 am and yeah, I was shredded. But seeing that big grin on my silly husband's face the next day made it all worth it. That and sleeping in, of course.

Hunter, on the other hand, was outside playing at 9:00 am. No sleeping in for him!!

In the Zone

There hasn't been a whole lot to update lately. With the cold weather and yucky air in SLC, there isn't much to do but hole up and digi-scrap. Trust me, I'm not complaining! About the scrapbooking, that is. :)

We did manage to escape the city this weekend, and we're enjoying a lovely weekend with my parents in Henrieville. We sure love this place! And, since I haven't been doing much else lately, I thought I'd share a few scrappy layouts. Enjoy.

I created the traditional scenic calendar for 2010, and thought I'd share the photos with you. I only used photos from our Alaska trip, and still had a difficult time narrowing it down. :)

Yay, Sarah!

I have to give a little shout-out to my sister Sarah. She is one amazing woman. Not only did her family host the Johnson Christmas party this year (which is no small undertaking), but they also went crazy with their generosity. We draw family names every year, and our gift limit is supposed to be $50.00. Well I happen to know that the Bradshaws, who had our name, did not stick within this limit. Because they gave me one of my favorite Christmas gifts EVER...and if it had been $50, I would have bought it myself a long time ago.

For years I have wanted a decent set of flatware. I'm tired of the cheap "college-student" conglomeration that doesn't match and bends when I spear a carrot. I am an official grown up (I have a passport to prove it!)...I should have grown-up flatware, too! Normal people get this sort of thing for their wedding. Well, Hunter and I are far from normal and we did not have a normal wedding. Therefore, no bridal registry and no beautiful flatware. I guess Sarah was tired of hearing me whine about it, because on Christmas day the Bradshaws delivered:
Needless to say, I absolutely LOVE IT! I washed the silverware yesterday and cleaned out the drawer today. My silverware drawer looks beautiful!! So yeah, maybe I'm crazy but it doesn't matter cuz I'm happy!! Thank you, Sarah and Brady!

I should also mention that this wasn't the only thing the Bradshaws gave us. Our stockings were stuffed full of great things that we can definitely use.

And, to top it all off, the rest of my sisters went in on a few other gifts that were completely unexpected! I love having sisters, and I've always loved being able to do things for them. Well I want each of them, and my parents, to know how grateful I am that they made my Christmas so wonderful this year. I guess I'll keep you guys. :)
