Comic Con

If you're a geek you probably already know about Comic Con. If you're not, you should check out this Wikipedia article; it'll give you the low-down. It began as a comic book convention, but has since morphed to include fans of video games, fantasy novels, and more.

I had heard about Comic Con before moving to San Diego, but I didn't really get it. I had seen a few pictures of people dressed up as various characters and recognized that some folks are definitely more successful at this than others. Well, Comic Con 2010 was held last weekend so Hunter and I headed right into the thick of things. We didn't attend the actual conference, but we didn't lack for entertainment.

Here are a few of the photos I took:
Look at all the people!!
Please note the awesome (slightly overpriced) Cozumel hat:

Here are a few of the photos Hunter took:
Pretty sure I need these boots:
Pretty sure I need these...oh, nevermind!
Are you sensing a pattern here? I think I'm beginning to understand why guys love Comic Con so much.

On another note, we spotted Molly Quinn in person. She's on one of our favorite shows, Castle. Which we love because it stars Nathan Fillion, who was in Firefly...which is a seriously awesome SciFi show that only ran for one season. Bummer. Anyway, here's a photo of Molly Quinn:

Here's the photo we took while hanging out with the Comic Con crowd:
Pretty convincing evidence, wouldn't you say?

Anyway, that was our Saturday. It was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

Oh, Joy!

I've been following this blog for about two years, and I love it. The author, Joy Deangdeelert Cho, is a graphic designer who has roughly 30,000 readers. Her blog "covers inspiration and design with a focus on home accessories, textiles and fashion". Her blog is always full of pretty things that please the eye and inspire me.

When I first began following her blog, she lived in Philadelphia. Last summer, she moved to San Diego and she is now preparing for a move to LA. In preparation for her move, she held a yard sale on Coronado Island. Realizing this was my one chance to meet her (and acquire something pretty in the process), I attended the yard sale. Joy is just as cute in person as I imagined she'd be...bubbly and friendly; the perfect hostess.
Who would have thought I'd be able to meet one of my favorite bloggers? It was a very cool day, indeed. :)

Ruth's Blog

As you may or may not know, my sister Ruth has a private blog. Because blog readers are not able to provide updates for private blogs, she has started a public blog which she will update whenever she adds a new blog post. You can check out/subscribe to her update site here. Be sure to check out her latest post because she has lots of photos of the cutest nieces and nephews EVER. Happy blog reading!

College Days

A couple of weeks ago my former roommate Amanda came to town. I haven't seen her in roughly twelve years! We were able to meet up for lunch, and it was so great to see her. Here we are:

In honor of this visit, I thought I'd post a few photos of us from college. Please pardon my scary 80's hair. It's true that I wasn't in college in the 80's, but my hair didn't know it.

Speaking of wild hair, I got a new haircut a few weeks ago. I love it! I was so excited to find a super-talented hair stylist who can actually work magic with my insane mane. Check it out:

And, that's pretty much it for now. Maybe one of these days I'll post some photos of the beaches we've been frequenting lately. For now, I've got some laundry to attend to. :)
