Hunter and I returned from a whirlwind trip to Orlando yesterday morning. I attended my annual Campus Management Users Conference, which was previously held in Delray Beach. When we found out this year's location, we knew this was an opportunity that couldn't be missed. So I flew out with my boss on Sunday (April 15th), and Hunter flew out with the boss' wife on Wed (April 18th). We stayed at a classy hotel, complete with bathrobes and the requisite bathroom television, and pretended to live the high life for a few days. On Wednesday my boss and I went to the Animal Kingdom, which was pretty cool. We did tons of walking, which is a new and uncommon experience for me (lol). My sweet hubby arrived very late Wednesday evening, and on Thursday he convinced me to ditch the conference and go to the Kennedy Space Center. It was amazing; I can't imagine how cool it would be to work there and be a part of such an innovative adventure. We saw quite a few alligators in the ditches and waterways alongside the road, and stopped at Cocoa Beach in the evening.
Friday we got up early and headed for Universal Studios. There was so much to see and do, and we had to make sure we did it all! We went to both Universal Parks (Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure), and the Islands of Adventure was definitely our favorite. We hit as many roller coasters as we could...needless to say, I'm still feeling the effects!!! By the end of the day we were so wasted we could barely manage the walk to the car. I tried to get Hunter to give me a piggyback ride, but it didn't happen. Sometimes it sucks to be an adult!!
Saturday morning was another early one, and I swear I aged about 20 years overnight. My muscles were not happy about their rediscovery, and they complained rather loudly! Hunter called me a wuss and ran 20 laps around the hotel by the time I ambled from the bed to the bathroom. How does he do it?? Anyway, I pulled myself together and we headed to Sea World. I was really excited for this one, and kept thinking about how much my little buddies would love to be there with me. Sea World was incredible! Such exotic animals, and they were right there in front of me! The Shamu show was breathtaking and awe-inspiring; what magnificent creatures the killer whales are! It struck me again what a beautiful, wonderful world we have, and how grateful I am to explore it and witness its treasures firsthand.
It's difficult to top the Sea World experience, but we did it! Hunter's parents were in Orlando for a temple trip that day, so they picked us up at Sea World and we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum!! Excellent food with the best company possible; what more could we ask for? It was so good to see them again; I wish we could visit more often.
Sunday came brutally early...we met our boss and his wife in the hotel lobby at 4:30 am (EST). Ugh! But it was nice because we were home by 11:00 am, which gave us time to recover. Of course, since we are getting older, one day was definitely not enough. So if you don't hear from us for another week or so, you'll know why!! :)
